Flat Pack Container Integrated Camp for Xiongan ZT8 Expressway Project

The ZT8 contract section of the new Rongwu Expressway is a core component of Xiongan New Area’s “Four Vertical and Three Horizontal” expressway network, a landmark national transportation infrastructure project located in Gaobeidian City, Baoding, Hebei Province. Once fully completed, this artery will connect Tianjin and central Hebei, build a 60-minute traffic circle between Xiongan and Beijing, shorten the travel time from Tianjin to Shijiazhuang to 90 minutes, and greatly boost transportation links between Xiongan New Area, Tianjin Port and Huanghua Port.

Contracted by CCCC Fourth Navigation Engineering Bureau Co., Ltd., the ZT8 section kicked off construction in 2020. To meet the rapid camp deployment demand of this key national project, GS Housing delivered a full-set integrated temporary camp solution with 187 sets of flat packed modular container houses, covering a total area of about 2,000 sq.m. The complete working & living complex can accommodate more than 200 on-site management and construction personnel simultaneously.

The camp is scientifically divided into independent office zone and staff living zone, with flexible modular unit combinations to cover all daily work, conference, dining and rest demands:

• Main office complex: Multi-story office building equipped with independent negotiation rooms and heightened-box multi-functional conference rooms;
• Catering complex: L-shaped staff canteen & kitchen building;
• Accommodation blocks: Four I-shaped dormitory buildings for construction workers.

The whole layout makes full use of land space, matched with central green small garden, forming a tidy, layered and humanized construction site camp.

1. Modern Transparent Office Building

The office building features concise and atmospheric appearance, connected by broken-bridge aluminum glass corridors with high transparency and wide vision. Staff can overlook the surrounding green landscape inside, greatly optimizing office comfort. The two-side corridors integrate walkways and restrooms, realizing efficient space utilization with original design. A lush green central garden sits at the core of the office area, bringing fresh vitality to the working environment. Wood-plastic flooring paired with glass guardrails echoes the well-landscaped camp, delivering a pleasant visual experience.

2. Hygienic & Complete Catering Supporting Area

The L-shaped canteen and kitchen adopt spacious, bright and tidy modular units, providing clean and safe dining space for all employees to guarantee daily food hygiene. The camp is additionally equipped with independent shower rooms, washbasin areas and other dedicated functional modules, fully covering all daily living supporting needs of workers.

3. Comfortable & Good-looking Dormitory Area

Worker dormitories adopt flat packed container houses with external rain shelter aisles and built-in stair units, presenting neat and unified exterior appearance. The outer corridor is fitted with full rain shelters to provide shade and rain protection, creating a cozy rest environment. Separate dormitory buildings are linked by glass connecting corridors, which facilitates daily passage and serves as a unique viewing platform inside the camp. All dormitory units are equipped with private bathing space, and the whole accommodation zone is matched with leisure pavilions, flower beds and green belts. The tidy flat pack containers are perfectly integrated with natural green scenery, building a green, healthy and pleasant living space.
