The Huoshenshan and Leishenshan Hospital projects became representative examples of emergency medical construction during China’s COVID-19 response. To meet urgent public health requirements, container house systems were applied as a fast-deployment building solution for temporary medical and supporting spaces.
Compared with traditional construction methods, container houses offer advantages in production efficiency, transportation convenience, flexible layout, and rapid on-site installation. They can be used to create temporary wards, staff working areas, support rooms, storage spaces, and other functional areas required for emergency healthcare projects.
The modular structure allows units to be arranged according to site conditions and project needs. After use, the buildings can also be dismantled, relocated, or reused for other temporary construction scenarios, making them suitable for emergency hospitals, isolation facilities, and public health response centers.
This project shows how container house systems can support rapid medical infrastructure deployment during urgent situations. By using prefabricated modular units, temporary hospital facilities can be built more efficiently, helping cities expand medical response capacity within a short construction period.
