The TFM & KFM copper-cobalt mine complex, invested and operated by CMOC Group Limited in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), ranks among the world\u2019s top deposits with ultra-high ore grade and massive reserves, covering a mining area exceeding 1,500 square kilometers. With a total investment of USD 2.51 billion, the TFM mixed ore expansion project is a landmark overseas mineral development project for CMOC. It is projected to produce an average of 200,000 tons of new copper and 17,000 tons of new cobalt annually. CMOC indirectly holds an 80% equity stake in TFM copper-cobalt mine. A brand-new cobalt production line launched in 2023 doubled local cobalt output, with the DRC cobalt output reaching 34,000 tons that year. As global demand for new energy metals surges, cobalt maintains strong market growth momentum.<\/p>\n

Remote African mining sites face challenges including backward local construction capacity, long ocean transportation cycles and harsh tropical climate.
